What is HELP Intervarsity Mid Autumn Carnival?

Ever since the China’s Shang Dynasty, the Chinese had marked every 15th day of the eight month in the Lunar Calendar with the celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival also known as the Mooncake festival or Lantern Festival was previously celebrated by the farmer in denoting the end of summer harvesting season. For generations, the Chinese would emphasize the reunion amongst the family members, sending round moon cakes to their relatives as gifts in expression of their best wishes of family reunion. Accompanying the celebration, there are additional cultural or regional customs, such as carrying lantern, enjoying the bright full moon and fire dragon dance performance.

In order to preserve the practices and tradition, we hope to organize a zone-level celebration which would comprise the bits of conventional commemoration of the festival. Apart from exhibiting the Chinese prodigy (Fire Dragon), attendees will be made known for the traditional practices particularly the cuisine (Mooncake) and games (Lantern Riddles). As a strategy in exposing the festival to the community, a mini exhibition of Mid-Autumn Festival will not be left out.

In conjunction with the 'One Malaysia' ideology to bring all Malaysians to unite as one regardless of races. This particular event would function as one of the stepping stone towards a united community with different races. Apart from targeting the communities of Malaysian, this particular event would serve as the platform in unfolding the Malaysian culture toward the global community (International students).
